This company has grown out of George Gaeke’s past experience in Geographic Information Systems and remote sensing work with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and satellite imagery. George is Veneterra’s President and Chief Technology Officer. Throughout his career, he has led project teams in the development and implementation of GIS applications. These have included apps for municipal governments, mining companies, police forces and a prototype of a groundwater contamination tracking system for the Hanford Nuclear Site in Washington State. For the last two years, he has led the drone team at Olds College, researching the use of drones with specialized sensors in precision agriculture and environmental work.

George Gaeke is Veneterra’s President and Chief Technology Officer. George holds a Master's Degree in GIS Applications from Vancouver Island University and has worked in the surveying and mapping world for over 25 years. As a Geographic Information Systems specialist, his expertise has been utilized by clients in Canada from coast to coast, and in several of the United States. As his experience in GIS grew, he led project teams in the development and implementation of GIS portals. Clients have included all levels of government, as well as many in the private sector. In 2013, George began teaching Land Use Planning and GIS courses at Olds College in Olds, Alberta. For the last 2 years, he has led a team researching how drone technologies can be utilized in the Precision Agriculture and Environmental Stewardship areas.

Gayleen Gaeke
Director of Operations

Gayleen Gaeke is Veneterra’s Director of Operations. She has a strong administrative background. Over the years, she has started and run two successful small businesses. In addition, she has worked in administrative and event planning positions, both as an employee and in a volunteer capacity. She has also worked alongside George, performing GIS tasks as part of a GIS implementation team.
